Eyebrow tinting step by step
1. Place a headband around your client’s hair and tuck any stray hairs away from their face.
2. Always cover your client with a towel to protect their clothes.
3. Check you have all the tools and equipment you require as you must never leave your client alone while the tint is developing.
4. Have a bowl of water available to dampen your cotton pads and in case the tint needs removing.
5. Using a clean spatula or cotton bud, remove some petroleum jelly from the pot. Apply around the eyebrow with a cotton bud. This is to avoid staining the skin.
6. Make sure the petroleum jelly does not encounter the hair as this will prevent the tint from working.
7. Mix a 2cm amount of tint (colour) hydrogen peroxide in a small tinting dish. Please read manufactures instructions for the account of developer as they differ from makes.
8. Mix into a smooth cream using a brush. (tip if the mix doesn't fall off your brush it is perfect constancy)
9. Apply the tint to the eyebrow. Firstly, brush the tint on in the same direction as the hair grows, then brush the opposite way to hair growth. This will catch all the fine hairs.
10. Repeat the same process on the second eyebrow.
11. Allow the tint to process for anything between seconds to minutes depending on the client’s preference. Today’s fashion is to leave the tint on longer to receive a thick, dramatic look. Warning for the dramatic look, do not leave longer than 10 minutes as the tint will dry and stain the skin under the hair.
