Curly Blow Dry - Technique
10m
Blow drying starting with the front top central section of hair, take a section of hair no deeper than your brush holding your brush in one hand and the hair dryer in the other pull the brush through the hair at the root area to get a good grip of the hair, the brush should be positioned underneath the hair take care not to cause any discomfort to your clients scalp while doing this
hair should be pulled up and away from the scalp to dry the root area first for maximum root lift.
once the root area in dry pull the brush through the hair until your brush reaches the ends of the hair keeping, your hair dryer away from the middle section of hair this needs to remain damp at this stage, holding your brush at a 45 degree angle wrap the ends of the hair around the brush, dry the hair taking care not to place the dryer directly onto the hair as this will cause damage to the hair.
once the ends of the hair are dry and smooth you can dry your next part of the section by continuing to wrap the hair around the brush, one turn of the wrist should be plenty continue to wrap the hair around the brush upwards towards the head until the hair is dry and smooth, move the hair dryer from side to side so the heat is constantly not being directed to one area as this can cause damage to the hair to check if the hair is dry smooth and set into the curl shape gentility unravel the hair from the brush, if the hair is not completely dry or smooth continue to dry the hair using the same technique.
change position of the brush to sitting on the of the hair and again starting at the ends of the hair wrap, dry and smooth the hair around the brush till you reach the head. Find a position that feels comfortable for you to hold your brush when wrapping the hair, remember not to drag the root lift out you have created at the root area .
What ever position you choice to hold your brush always keep the hair pulled in an outwards or upwards position once this section is dry, smooth and set into place, create a pin curl the hair and secure to the head with a hair grip.
(refer back to video how to create the perfect pin curl)
Repeat steps 13 to 21 continuing to the hair down the middle section of the head. continue to dry, smooth and set the hair working at the back side section of the head, starting at the top and working your way down, This allows you to keep your pin curls nice and tidy. continue with this method on the opposite side of the head remembering to work top to bottom
allow the pin curls to cool down and set for a further 10 minuets or longer, some clients opt to go home like this and remove them their selves. The longer the pin curls can stay in the longer the curls have in staying in place.
When removing take care when unravelling the pin curls, start at the nape of the neck, allow the curls to fall, add hair spray to each one if required.
Fix into place as required to suit your client needs.
